This is the Qualifying Group #2. You are voting for the "best" monster in this group-- you decide what "best" means. This poll will stay open until Monday. The top vote-getter will move on to the 16-monster, single elimination tournament. Click here for the official rules post.
Remember: Posting from puppet accounts is prohibited. People who vote using puppet accounts will not have their votes counted (from any account).
Advocating your favorite monster in this thread is encouraged. Feel free to berate the ones you don't want, and tout the ones you do.
There can be only one.
The candidates in this group are:
Satyr
Hydra
Carnivorous/White Ape
Tiefling |

| This is kind of a sad line up. I view all of these as some of the "weaker" choices from the pool. For me, it's between Satyr and Hydra. I'm torn because the Hydra is a pretty bad-ass foe, but the Satyr is a much more clever adversary. This will require some thought. |

I'm not. I have always been attracted to a nice set of horns.

Definitely the hydra for me, satyr comes in a distant second. Their cool in mythology, but the D&D satyr just never impressed me. _________________ Shut up and go get your Glorious Leader a beer! |

I'm a big Robert Howard fan so I have to go with carnivorous ape. His stuff is full of things between man and ape.
Silverwolf is right about the the satyr.
Tiefling seems like some lame ass Forgotten Realms race foisted on the rest of D&D recently. _________________ <- All painted up and standing on the street corner. |

Giving it up to the carnivorous ape. Not only are they bad-assed monsters for most of my playing groups, they harken back to the man himself.

In this case, I have to say that n-heads are better than one, even if it has horns! _________________ "Elsewhere, CBS said it had rejected an ad for a gay dating site for the 2010 Super Bowl, but that it would still air three hours of men in tight pants slapping each other on the ass." - Andy Borowitz

About a year ago, I ran a game of D&D in which an orphaned satyr had been adopted by a kindly widower. He was the town mascot for years, but now at the ripe old age of 7, he has achieved satyr adulthood, and his natural impulses have put him at odds with his human upbringing, leaving him a bitter and twisted angsty adolescent.
The memories of that game put satyr over the top for me. _________________ <--And I jizz on my post! |

And the carniverous ape might have done a better job running the state... _________________ Portland, Oregon is essentially a Lord of the Flies scenario with white people in the Pacific Northwest instead of children in the South Pacific. Two heads are better than one.
So seven heads with the ability to regenerate and create more equals super better. |

I was wondering who the first would be to mention that comic. And here I had my money on Ancient History. |

This would be an Ancient History post:
